From Dr. McKenzie I grew up in a small town in central South Dakota where my father was a veterinarian and although I grew up admiring the work he did, I was not sure I wanted to follow in his footsteps. My childhood dream was to be a professional football player but after undergoing two knee surgeries before the age of 17, I realized that was not possible. I was intrigued with the objective and deliberate nature of orthopedic surgeons and how they could take a problem, solve it, and rehab the patient back to health in a relatively short period of time. I decided to enter medical school and orthopedic training with a goal of providing the same type of treatment for my patients.
About Dr. McKenzie As a board certified orthopedic surgeon, Dr. McKenzie’s practice is founded on total joint replacements and revision thereof in the hip and knee; arthroscopy of the knee and shoulder; and spinal treatments including simple discectomies, decompressive laminectomies, and fusions. His mission is to provide patients the same high quality service and compassionate care that he would offer to a member of his own family.
In addition to Dr. McKenzie’s extensive medical commitments, he enjoys spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren as well as participating in archery, hunting, fishing, cooking, and exercise. He and his wife have served the community by starting a non-profit organization to assist diabetics in helping to control their disease.
