For his undergraduate studies, Dr. Lawson attended Harvard University and graduated magna cum laude with a degree in biochemical sciences in 2000. He then attended the University of Florida and received his medical degree cum laude in 2004. During medical school he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor society. In July 2006, Dr. Lawson became a resident in Neurosurgery following several years of training in a combined general surgery/plastic and reconstructive surgery program. During his Neurosurgical training at UF he completed an 18-month dedicated fellowship in Endovascular Neurosurgery under the direction of Drs. Brian Hoh, J Mocco, and Chris Firment. This specialized training qualifies Dr. Lawson to treat complex cerebrovascular disorders such as intracranial aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), and acute stroke. After residency, he remained on staff at UF for six months as a Neurosurgeon.
During his training, Dr. Lawson published 16 peer-reviewed articles and scientific papers in neurosurgical journals, in addition to several book chapters and invited topic reviews. Many of these publications are in the field of Endovascular Neurosurgery and quality improvement in neurosurgery. Most have been presented at neurosurgical meetings, including the annual meetings of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) and American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS). In 2011, Dr. Lawson was the recipient of the Synthes Cerebrovascular Award, presented at the 2011 CNS Annual Meeting for his research paper examining outcomes on 14,050 treatments for unruptured aneurysms. In addition to General Neurosurgery, Dr. Lawson provides subspecialized care in Endovascular and Cerebrovascular Surgery. Dr. Lawson performs many neurosurgical procedures, including:
Endovascular & Cerebrovascular Surgery
Diagnostic Cerebral Angiography
Diagnostic Spinal Angiography
Aneurysm Treatment including Coiling & Clipping
AVM Treatment including Embolization & Surgical Resection
Carotid Artery Disease including Carotid Stent Placement & Carotid Endarterectomy
Stroke Intervention & Intracranial Stenosis
Venous Sinus Stenting for IIH
Cranial Neurosurgery
Brain Tumor Surgery
Hydrocephalus & VP Shunt Surgery
Trigeminal Neuralgia Surgery
Spine & Peripheral Nerve Surgery
Cervical and Lumbar Spine Surgery

My first visit was too short to get much from Dr. Lawson but he was pleasant and friendly enough.
Very professional and thorough in explanations.
