Dr. Kelly was wonderful! From the minute I walked into OIP to the moment I left I was very pleased with how smoothly-run, professional and thorough the entire visit was! Dr. Kelly greeted me with a warm smile, went over everything x-rays & MRIs thoroughly with me and said he felt best I get a shot vice surgery. (I was elated to hear that). :-) The shot has indeed helped (a day later) and I’m thrilled. I cannot recommend Dr. Kelly or his staff enough…warm, kind, caring, thorough, timely and professional. I would recommend this team to anyone.

Over Booked
Waited over an hour for a 5 minute visit!
And I truly like and appreciate him but that’s a bit too long to for me to wait for a very short visit

Dr. Matthew J. Kelly, M.D., is a general orthopedic surgeon, with a focus on shoulder surgery, sports medicine, and knee replacement.
Dr. Kelly attended medical school at the Penn State College of Medicine, and completed an Orthopedic Surgery residency at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in 2004. He served as an orthopedic surgeon in the United States Army for five years, during which he was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Fort Belvoir, Virginia and Iraq. He then completed a Shoulder Surgery fellowship in Sydney, Australia, where he received another year of additional training in rotator cuff repair, shoulder replacement and shoulder instability surgery. He joined the Orthopedic Institute of Pennsylvania in 2010.
Dr. Kelly is board certified in Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery.
Dr. Kelly is a member of the Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Society, and is a member of the Executive Committee.
He volunteered as the Palmyra (High School) Cougars’ Team Orthopedic Surgeon from 2011-2021 and was the Team Orthopedic Surgeon for the Harrisburg Heat Soccer Team from 2013-2019.
Dr. Kelly lives in Hershey with his wife and their four sons. He was a volunteer with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts when his boys were younger. He enjoys running, exercise, soccer, skiing and motorsports.
