Dr. Matthew E. Citron, D.O., F.A.C.S., is an eye specialist and surgeon who treats glaucoma and cataract. He completed his medical degree from Michigan State University. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine through Michigan State University at Botsford General Hospital. He was twice honored with the Patrick Murray Award for outstanding resident academic achievement. He then went on to serve as the Clinical Glaucoma and Cataract Fellow at Wayne State University’s Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit.

Dr Citron received an A.B. in History at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He completed his medical degree from Michigan State University. He was honored as the Walter C. Mill outstanding senior surgical extern. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine through Michigan State University at Botsford General Hospital.
Following that, Dr Citron served as Co-Chief Resident in Ophthalmology through Michigan State at the Detroit Osteopathic Ophthalmology Consortium. He was twice honored with the Patrick Murray Award for outstanding resident academic achievement. He then went on to serve as the Clinical Glaucoma and Cataract Fellow at Wayne State University’s Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit.
Dr. Citron is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Michigan State University and Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. He has served as a medical and surgical instructor of both cataract and glaucoma surgery and has dedicated thousands of hours to resident education, instruction and supervision. He has served as the Director of Glaucoma Services for the Michigan State Residency Program in Detroit. Prior to joining the Glaucoma Center of Michigan, he was an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Kresge Eye Institute. He served as a member of the glaucoma faculty and the local Residency Program Director at Sinai-Grace hospital.
Dr Citron is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Osteopathic College of Ophthalmology Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgeons. He is board certified. He has received numerous awards for service including the Presidential Award from the American Osteopathic College of Ophthalmology. His professional memberships include the American Glaucoma Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Osteopathic Association, Michigan Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Citron has an extensive group of presentations and papers dedicated to advancement of the subspecialties of glaucoma and cataract care.
