He completed his Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery residency at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. Dr. Matthew Carmichael, M.D., was born and raised in the metro-Atlanta area. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences in agriculture and then earned his medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine. He completed his Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery residency at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. During his training, Dr. Carmichael spent considerable time training under world class Head and Neck Surgeons at Moffitt Cancer Center, the 8th ranked national cancer center in the United States, providing him with unique specialization in head and neck cancer. He is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery. He is on staff at Emory Johns Creek Hospital, and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA).
As an experienced ENT doctor, Dr. Carmichael provides comprehensive otolaryngologic care with special interests in head and neck tumors, sleep apnea including INSPIRE therapy, ear disease, sinus and allergy issues, pediatric otolaryngology and voice disorders.

Very attentive listening to everything I told him. Showed a genuine interest and came up with a suggestion for me to try with a follow up in one week.
Condescending, no empathy Went for follow up and he didn't remember the facts of the first visit. Maybe he didn't take notes. He forgot I had oral surgery moving jaws forward. After my CT scan, he asked me how I broke my face and didn't remember having someone call to set up physical therapy. Broke my face? So strange! What a thing to say in front of his assistants
He was great with my son, asked really helpful questions and was very to the point. We really liked him!

This is a physician who is very transparent and has an excellent understanding of medicine related to his field! He does have a sense of empathy for his patients while explaining the true facts concerning his diagnosis and treatment for the illness.

Every time I go here I ger great and honest care without defend myself for my medical issues. Northeast atlanta ENT is amazing top top to bottom abd Dr. Carmichael is great doc and class act.
