Dr. Matthew L. Busbee, a sports medicine specialist, graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor of science in biomedical science. He received his medical degree from The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, graduating with AOA honors. Dr. Busbee completed his orthopaedic residency at the Campbell Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee. After residency, he completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the American Institute of Sports Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama, under the training of Dr. James Andrews and associates.
During his fellowship, Dr. Busbee specialized in open and arthroscopic treatment of athletic injuries to the shoulder, knee, and elbow. He is also trained in cartilage restoration procedures, including autologous chondrocyte implantation.
Dr. Busbee is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a former All-American swimmer at Auburn University and a graduate of Murphy High School.
