Dr. Kaufman was born and raised in northeast Pennsylvania. After completing his undergraduate degree at Swarthmore College he obtained his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Kaufman did his residency training at the UPMC Eye Center where he served as Chief Ophthalmology Resident. Dr. Kaufman is member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and serves on the Self-Assessment Committee creating education materials for ophthalmologists in training and in practice.
After moving to Oregon with his wife, Dr. Kaufman practiced at Kaiser Permanente where he performed thousands of cataract surgeries. He joined Eyehealth Northwest in 2019.
Dr. Kaufman lives in Portland with his wife and two daughters. He enjoys skiing, golf, and cooking.
