Dr. Kaufman was born and raised in northeast Pennsylvania. After completing his undergraduate degree at Swarthmore College he obtained his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Dr. Kaufman did his residency training at the UPMC Eye Center where he served as Chief Ophthalmology Resident. Dr. Kaufman is member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and serves on the Self-Assessment Committee creating education materials for ophthalmologists in training and in practice.
After moving to Oregon with his wife, Dr. Kaufman practiced at Kaiser Permanente where he performed thousands of cataract surgeries. He joined Eyehealth Northwest in 2019.
Dr. Kaufman lives in Portland with his wife and two daughters. He enjoys skiing, golf, and cooking.

He was very professional but yet very down to earth and relatable. Felt like talking to a friend and not a “doctor “

Dr Kaufman is fantastic in all ways!! He is thorough and instills great confidence in his abilities and has excellent “bedside” manners! Today he said my floaters are due to “maturity and wisdom” - what a fun and positive way of saying “getting old” in such a complimentary way! I just wish he were easier to get appts with, but that’s because he’s so great!!

Very thorough and knowledgeable
Only complaint is that they are so backed up every time I come. Appt was at 10:10 but didn't get into a room until 10:50 ish. This is an ongoing issue. I understand a few minutes but over 1/2 hour should be addressed
