Dr. Mark J. Shen MD, FHRS

Dr. Shen is a Board Certified Cardiac Electrophysiologist and Cardiologist, specializing in treating patients with heart rhythm disorders. He performs complex cardiac ablations for various heart rhythm diseases such as atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia, and implants cardiac devices such as pacemakers, defibrillators and cardiac resynchronization therapy.

He completed his Electrophysiology Fellowship at Northwestern University, Chicago, IL, and Clinical Cardiology Fellowship and Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Indiana University. Prior to this, he received his Internal Medicine Residency through the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Dr. Shen joined Cardiovascular Medicine in February 2023 and holds the position of the Director of Cardiovascular Research and Education. He is passionate to bring the latest advanced technology and clinical trials here for patients in need. He oversees clinical trials involving pharmacological, device and technological therapy for patients with heart rhythm disorders. He has authored dozens of peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters and won prestigious awards such as The Heart Rhythm Society Fellowship in Cardiac Pacing and Electrophysiology.

Dr. Shen is Board Certified in Electrophysiology, Cardiovascular Diseases, Internal Medicine, and Echocardiography. He is licensed in both Iowa and Illinois and is available for outpatient consultation and follow up visits at the Moline, Davenport and Bettendorf locations. Dr. Shen has staff privileges at Genesis Medical Center and UnityPoint Health Trinity.

Dr. Shen is a member of the American College of Cardiology and a Fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society. Besides work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two boys.
