Dr. Mark Ortiz was born and raised in Ashland, Ohio. He attended undergraduate at the Ohio State University; graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. Afterwards, he remained in Columbus, Ohio where he received his Doctorate of Optometry with honors at The Ohio State College of Optometry in 2017.
Dr. Ortiz completed his residency training in family practice optometry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry. There he gained extensive training in pediatric/adult comprehensive care, contact lenses, surgical co-management, and ocular disease management. Deeply committed to community service, Dr. Ortiz has participated in numerous regional mission trips and vision screenings. He was the 2017 recipient of the Community Outreach Clinical Excellence Award, awarded by The Ohio State College of Optometry.
Dr. Ortiz is currently a Fellow with the American Board of Optometry and is an active member of the American Academy of Optometry, American Optometric Association, and the Georgia Optometric Association.

Dr. Ortiz is a very kind, knowledgeable professional that aways has his patient's best vision and interests at the forefront. He throughly discusses all treatment options so the patient can make an informed decision.
Dr Ortiz was super. He did a thorough evaluation of both eyes. They are staying the same. No changes need to be made. He is so patient, smart, and encouraging. I am so glad that he is my doctor for my eyes.
