Dr. Mark Ortiz was born and raised in Ashland, Ohio. He attended undergraduate at the Ohio State University; graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. Afterwards, he remained in Columbus, Ohio where he received his Doctorate of Optometry with honors at The Ohio State College of Optometry in 2017.
Dr. Ortiz completed his residency training in family practice optometry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry. There he gained extensive training in pediatric/adult comprehensive care, contact lenses, surgical co-management, and ocular disease management. Deeply committed to community service, Dr. Ortiz has participated in numerous regional mission trips and vision screenings. He was the 2017 recipient of the Community Outreach Clinical Excellence Award, awarded by The Ohio State College of Optometry.
Dr. Ortiz is currently a Fellow with the American Board of Optometry and is an active member of the American Academy of Optometry, American Optometric Association, and the Georgia Optometric Association.

Best eye professional I have ever seen. My new glasses were not working for me. Rather than simply changing my prescription, he listened to my symptoms and concluded that cataract surgery would be more effective for me.

So nice and compassionate. He saved my life , I went in because I lost vision in one of my eyes for about 5 minutes, they took me right in and Dr. Ortiz informs me I have had a stroke. Send me straight to hospital, my artery was a total block. THANK YOU. Dr Ortiz.
