Dr. Mark Ortiz was born and raised in Ashland, Ohio. He attended undergraduate at the Ohio State University; graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. Afterwards, he remained in Columbus, Ohio where he received his Doctorate of Optometry with honors at The Ohio State College of Optometry in 2017.
Dr. Ortiz completed his residency training in family practice optometry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry. There he gained extensive training in pediatric/adult comprehensive care, contact lenses, surgical co-management, and ocular disease management. Deeply committed to community service, Dr. Ortiz has participated in numerous regional mission trips and vision screenings. He was the 2017 recipient of the Community Outreach Clinical Excellence Award, awarded by The Ohio State College of Optometry.
Dr. Ortiz is currently a Fellow with the American Board of Optometry and is an active member of the American Academy of Optometry, American Optometric Association, and the Georgia Optometric Association.

Very personable
He is wonderful, he talks to you about everything he does and is really helpful in explaining things.I had my great granddaughter and granddaughter with me he explained everything to her and my great granddaughter would not leave my side and he talked to her and worked around her and he even took his light and looked at her eyes and she thought he was so funny.I would recommend him to everyone,he is so sweet

Dr.Ortiz is an excellent physician!! He is very caring and listens to the patient’s needs and concerns!! He goes beyond to make you feel comfortable and explains everything to you. I wouldn’t want any other doctor to take care of my eyes!!! I wouldn’t totally recommend him for all your vision needs!!
