Has a great personality, he's very good at explaining things and he has done two surgeries on my hand, and I am quite pleased with the result. In fact, I'm going to let him do another finger fusion.

Stellar Surgeon and staff all around. Dr Mellinger came in to see me before my surgery. He listener intently to my wanting a regional anesthesia not a general. He didn’t blink and pleasantly abided by my request. Was awake during the procedure- felt no pain. Don’t want or like surgeries (who does?). With that said, being awake during was a fascinating and insightful adventure. Cannot praise the whole staff - WHOLE STAFF - enough. First rate!!!

Before becoming an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Mellinger held a career as an Optical Engineer. His decision to dedicate his life to medicine was determined during a volunteering trip to a surgical clinic in Mexico. Dr. Mellinger earned his fellowship certificate in Hand and Microsurgery from the University of Florida. Before traveling to Florida to further his education in hand surgery, Dr. Mellinger received his post-graduate education, doctoral degree and an undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
Dr. Mellinger is active in the medical community holding memberships with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
