Dr. Marissa Catalanotto, M.D., FAAPMR, is a fellowship-trained interventional pain management specialist. She combines precision procedures with a compassionate approach to help patients reduce discomfort, improve mobility and actively engage in their everyday lives.
She specializes in chronic musculoskeletal and cancer-related pain. She takes a comprehensive, multimodal approach by evaluating the physical, neurological, and lifestyle factors that contribute to pain and dysfunction. She then creates personalized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s goals and needs.
Her expertise includes various injections, radiofrequency ablations and advanced interventions, such as neuromodulation, vertebral augmentation, intrathecal drug delivery, and multidisciplinary pain management strategies.
Dr. Catalanotto works closely with patients to identify the safest and most effective combination of treatments to restore function and quality of life.
Dr. Catalanotto completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Tulsa, graduating magna cum laude, and went on to earn her medical degree from St. George’s University, also magna cum laude.
She did her internship at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and served as Chief Resident during her Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency at Baylor College of Medicine. She then completed a Pain Medicine fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center, the number one cancer center in the country, where she also served as Chief Fellow.
Dr. Catalanotto held several leadership roles during her training, including Administrative Chief Resident and Chief Fellow. She is also a published researcher and award-winning presenter. She was selected as one of the top three poster presentations at the Society of Women Innovators in Pain Management National Conference in Nashville, TN, for her presentation titled, “Minimally Invasive Peripheral Nerve Stimulation for Knee Osteoarthritis.”
She is an active member of the North American Neuromodulation Society and the Society of Women Innovators in Pain Management. Dr. Catalanotto attends numerous conferences throughout the year to stay current in the evolving field of pain medicine.
Dr. Catalanotto is a Long Island native and former Division I collegiate rower at the University of Tulsa. She has competed internationally and represented The United States at the World University Games in Gwangju, South Korea in 2015. Staying active and healthy is central to her lifestyle. She enjoys HIIT workouts and running and has participated in many half marathons across the country. She also loves to travel and spend quality time with her family.
