Marina Protopapas, D.O.

Dr. Marina Protopapas, DO, is a board-certified physician specializing in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Pain Management, and Interventional Pain Medicine with National Spine & Pain Centers, practicing out of their Fairfax, Virginia office. She earned her undergraduate degree from Adelphi University before receiving her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed a transitional internship at Good Samaritan Hospital and a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency through Harvard Medical School, where she served as Chief Resident.

Dr. Protopapas completed consecutive specialized fellowships: one in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and another in Pain Management at Harvard Medical School-Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, alongside earning a degree in Clinical Acupuncture from Harvard Medical School.

Board-certified in both Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine, she specializes in the non-surgical diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic musculoskeletal and spinal pain conditions, such as degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, herniated discs, and complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS). She is highly specialized in advanced, x-ray-guided interventional procedures, including trigger point and facet joint injections, epidural nerve blocks, discography, spinal cord stimulation trials, sympathetic blocks, radiofrequency denervation, and vertebroplasty/kyphoplasty.
