Dr. Varuna is the best! I felt a little uncomfortable before my last appointment, a slightly unusual problem, but Dr Virina put my heart and mind at ease right away. She helped me feel more comfortable, and I’m extremely grateful for her knowledge and expertise. Can’t say enough good things.
I’ve also had excellent care with the other doctors in the past, but Dr. Virina is my regular go to. I’m grateful to have found this practice.

Dr Virina immediately put me at ease. As a sexual abuse survivor, gyne visits can be stressful but I felt absolutely comfortable in her care. She has such a clear way of explaining her treatment rationale, while still stressing that I had choices.

She actually took her time to listen, explain and placed orders for the labs I truly wanted to test to help understand why I was having multiple miscarriages. Very personable and warm. That can’t be taught and she’s a true service provider.

Dr. Maricar Virina, M.D., F.A.C.O.G. is a highly training OB/GYN physician who joins our practice in August 2021.
Dr. Virina grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and after graduating from Loyola University cum Laude with a double major in chemistry and math, she went on to attend the University of Toledo School of Medicine. There she received the Dr. Norman Fisher Memorial Scholarship and served as President of the American Medical Women’s Association. She returned to the Chicago area to complete her residency in OB/GYN at Advocate Lutheran General in Park Ridge where she was selected to serve as Chief Resident in Clinic Administration. Dr. Virina is also a Certified daVinci Robotic Surgeon by Intuitive Surgical and performs daVinci Robotic Surgery at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
Dr. Virina has received numerous awards including the 2019 Excellence in Teaching Award from the Association of Professors of Gynecology & Obstetrics. She was also selected as a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society due to her outstanding compassion in the delivery of care while showing respect for patients, their families, and healthcare colleagues.
Dr. Virina sees patients in our Vernon Hills office and is affiliated with Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville and NorthShore University Highland Park Hospital.
