Dr. Maharsh Patel’s interests include treating sports injuries including rotator cuff tears/tendonitis, elbow and thumb ligament reconstruction, tendon transfers, arthroscopic surgery of the upper extremity, and fractures of the upper extremity in all ages.

Dr. Maharsh Patel earned his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology along with a minor in Religious Studies from the University of Georgia in Athens, GA, graduating summa cum laude. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University, graduating summa cum laude. He completed his five-year orthopaedic surgery residency training at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL followed by a fellowship in Hand & Upper Extremity at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center under the tutelage of Drs. Mark E. Baratz and Joseph E. Imbriglia.
Dr. Patel is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He has authored multiple scientific articles and book chapters ranging from disorders of the shoulder, elbow, and hand and has presented these on both regional and national levels. He has a particular interest in peripheral nerve surgery including endoscopic carpal tunnel release, Dupuytren’s disease, treatment of shoulder, elbow, and hand arthritis including joint replacements.

Dr. Patel is originally from Macon, GA and is excited about returning to his hometown. He enjoys exercising, traveling, cooking, reading, spending time with his beautiful family, and watching Georgia football games.
