Dr. Madhish Patel, D.O. is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in joint preservation and replacement, complex primary and revision joint replacement, arthroscopy, sports medicine, and fracture care. He is dedicated to helping patients restore mobility, reduce pain, and return to the activities they enjoy through personalized, evidence-based orthopedic care.
Originally from East Africa, Dr. Patel spent his early years in Uganda, where he competed in international cricket. Before pursuing medicine, he gained valuable experience working with one of East Africa’s leading aluminum and steel fabrication companies. Driven by a passion for healthcare and improving lives, he transitioned to medicine and earned his bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from Benedictine University in Illinois. He then completed a master’s degree at Midwestern University before earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Patel completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Michigan State University Statewide Campus System program in Grand Blanc, Michigan, where he served as Chief Resident. During residency, he received specialized pediatric orthopedic training at Children’s Hospital New Orleans, affiliated with Louisiana State University. He then completed advanced fellowship training in Adult Reconstruction and Hip Arthroscopy in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Throughout his training, Dr. Patel had the privilege of learning from nationally and internationally recognized leaders in orthopedic surgery. His mentors were pioneers in implant design, robotic-assisted surgery, computer navigation, virtual reality applications, and innovative surgical techniques that enhance patient recovery and outcomes. Today, he integrates these advances with individualized treatment plans to deliver the highest quality care.
While Dr. Patel treats a broad range of orthopedic conditions—including sports injuries, fractures, and joint disorders—his clinical passion is complex primary and revision shoulder, hip and knee replacement surgery, as well as the management of periprosthetic fractures and prosthetic joint infections. He is committed to providing comprehensive care for patients with challenging orthopedic conditions and helping them achieve lasting improvements in function and quality of life.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Patel is actively involved in orthopedic education and research. He has presented at national and state orthopedic meetings and is collaborating with the Institute for Mobility and Longevity and the MORE Foundation along with a team of fellowship-trained surgeons to advance orthopedic education in Southwest Florida. His efforts include developing continuing medical education (CME) programs, journal clubs, outcomes-based research initiatives, and an Adult Reconstruction Fellowship to help train the next generation of orthopedic surgeons.
Outside the office, Dr. Patel enjoys the active lifestyle Southwest Florida offers. He is an avid pickleball player, cyclist, and cricket enthusiast. Most importantly, he treasures spending time traveling and creating memories with his wife and kids.
