Luis Guevara, D.O.

Dr. Luis Guevara, D.O. is a double board-certified physician in Sleep Medicine and Family Medicine, passionately dedicated to transforming patients’ lives through better sleep and comprehensive, root-cause-focused care. He proudly serves patients with a patient-centered, holistic approach.

Dr. Guevara diagnoses and treats a wide range of sleep disorders and chronic illnesses—including obstructive sleep apnea, insomnia, restless legs syndrome, narcolepsy, and circadian rhythm disorders—using in-lab sleep studies, home sleep apnea testing, and personalized plans that may incorporate CPAP therapy, oral appliances, hypoglossal nerve stimulation, lifestyle changes, and medications.

His career started after getting a Bachelor in Psychology from The University of Texas at San Antonio (Go Roadrunners!) and a Master of Public Health from UTHealth Houston School, where he worked in epidemiology at the Austin Health Department. Frustrated by modern medicine’s frequent focus on treating symptoms rather than root causes, he earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tennessee, cultivating a deep commitment to rural healthcare and treating the patient as a whole. He returned to South Texas to complete his Family Medicine residency at the Texas Institute for Graduate Medical Education and Research in Laredo, followed by a Sleep Medicine fellowship at The University of Mississippi Medical Center.

This robust primary-care foundation enables him to address the far-reaching effects of poor sleep—on heart and brain health, chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension, mood, and daily performance.
