Dr. Laura Dunne is a primary care sports medicine physician working at OAA since 2003. She completed a family medicine residency at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis and primary care sports medicine fellowship at the Ohio State University, and she is board certified in both family medicine and primary care sports medicine. Dr. Dunne has the further distinction of being named a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice with Certificate of Added Qualifications in Sports Medicine. She is an active member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and the American College of Sports Medicine.
In 2016, Dr. Dunne was named Head Team Physician for the USA Hockey Sled Hockey Development Team for Paralympic sled hockey. She also continues to be the primary care doctor for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, the AAA affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. Through Lehigh Valley Health Network’s primary care sports medicine fellowship, Dr. Dunne teaches new fellows the craft of sports medicine as well as assisting with their medical coverage of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
Dr. Dunne regularly cares for local weekend warriors, sidelined runners, athletes, families, and friends. Her prior team coverage includes the Ohio State University’s team coverage in the 2002-2003 season, including the NCAA National Championship for football. She also covered USA Hockey’s U17 gold medal win at the Tri-Nations Tournament, and USA Hockey’s Development Team gold medals at the Défi sportif AlterGo Competition defeating the Canadian development teams in 2016 and 2017.
In her free time, she enjoys playing soccer, running half marathons, and yoga. Her hockey-playing husband and three children keep her busy as well.
