Dr. Kyle Peterson specializes in comprehensive care of all aspects of the foot and ankle, including: sports-related injuries, trauma/fractures, arthroscopic ankle surgery, achilles injuries, total ankle replacement, bunions, hammertoes, heel pain, flatfeet and pediatric care. He also provides treatment for diabetes-related foot and ankle complications and wound care.
Dr. Peterson has been a member of Suburban Orthopaedics since 2014. Prior to joining Suburban Orthopaedics, Dr. Peterson received advanced orthopedic fellowship training from the acclaimed Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Center in Columbus, Ohio. During his fellowship year, Dr. Peterson received extensive hands-on training from multiple orthopedic and podiatric surgeons.
Prior to fellowship, Dr. Peterson completed a three-year podiatric surgical residency at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh. During his final year of residency, Dr. Peterson served as Chief Resident. He received his medical education from Des Moines University’s College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Peterson grew up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and received his B.S. in Biology from South Dakota State University.
Dr. Peterson is a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS) and is board-certified in foot and reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS).
Dr. Peterson has been very active in research throughout his training, including the completion of a sub-specialized research fellowship at the Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Center. He has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, has authored many foot and ankle textbook chapters, and has won research awards at both state and national levels for his work. He is an active member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, where he has served on peer-appointed committees since 2010. He is also a peer reviewer for the surgical journals, Foot and Ankle Specialist and Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery.
Dr. Peterson is a devoted patient advocate who focuses on advancing patient care through research and education. In his free time, Dr. Peterson enjoys golfing, running, traveling, and spending time with his wife and children.

My daughter sprained her ankle. We waited 45 mins in room and nurse came in first then his PA who was great. Then he came in after another 15 mins. Didn’t say much. Said he agreed with his PA and never spoke about X-ray taken and mentioned therapy and boot. Then said I will see her in a week. Then says he will be out of town so make it two weeks in the boot! We explained she has a Regional meet in 3.5 weeks. Then they moved us to another room where we waited another 40 mins. Lady put the boot on my daughter wrong. (I fixed it when we got into the car) went to check out and asked for two copies of Dr note for her gym (athlete) and her school. No mention of PT. We left feeling confused. No icing? No elevating? Originally it was 1 week in a boot but since he’s out of town we will leave her in it an extra week? Called and left message and lady made her an appointment with a different Dr in 7 days.

We had surgery a couple of days ago, and I highly recommend Dr. Kyle Peterson. He’s very professional, kind, and friendly, and he explains everything clearly. You never have to wait long for your appointment, which I really appreciate. I truly hope that this time my daughter won’t have to suffer anymore and will finally be able to walk without the pain.
