Dr. Kyle Keane is a board-certified primary care physician specializing in sports medicine, nonoperative treatments, and concussion management. Dr. Keane completed his undergraduate education at The Johns Hopkins University, where he majored in economics, while also completing his pre-med requirements. He then attended New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM), where he graduated with the degree of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. After medical school, Dr. Keane completed his Family Medicine residency on Long Island at Northwell Health, Plainview Hospital. He remained at Plainview Hospital for his fellowship training in Sports Medicine. As a fellow, he served as a team physician for LIU Post (formerly C.W. Post), providing care for all of the school's student-athletes, and sideline coverage for LIU Post football, soccer, wrestling, and lacrosse. He also has experience with large-scale athletic events, having covered the 2016 and 2017 TCS NYC Marathon, as well as various other NYRR sponsored races. During fellowship, Dr. Keane was also appointed the rank of Teaching Associate by the Faculty Council of the Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine. In that regard, he lectured residents and medical students on various topics. He also taught medical students at NYITCOM an introductory course to musculoskeletal ultrasound. Dr. Keane is Board-Certified in Family Medicine, Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT), and Sports Medicine. He has expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of all sports-related injuries and musculoskeletal pathologies. He specializes in non-operative treatments and modalities such as OMT, musculoskeletal ultrasound, and injection therapy (prolotherapy, platelet-rich plasma injections, stem cell injections, trigger point injections, corticosteroid injections, viscosupplementation). He is also trained in the diagnosis and management of concussion and is a credentialed consultant with the ImPACT concussion assessment application. Dr. Keane is a Long Islander through and through. Having grown up in Suffolk County, he still enjoys spending time out on the Great South Bay fishing, clamming, and boating. When not on the water, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two dogs. Being a Sports Medicine doctor, it is only natural that he is an avid sports fan as well. Dr. Keane is also an accomplished athlete. He captained football, wrestling, and baseball teams in his pre-graduate career, was an All-County wrestler, and a starter on The Johns Hopkins University varsity wrestling team. He has also completed two marathons- the 2014 Long Island Marathon and the 2015 TCS NYC Marathon.
