Dr. Krystal Wells, OD is a comprehensive optometrist who specializes in routine and problem-focused eye examinations, contact lens fittings, pediatric eye care, urgent eye care and pre- and post-operative care.
Dr. Wells is an Elk Horn, Iowa native, and she received her bachelor of science degree from Creighton University. After graduation, Dr. Wells worked at Midwest Eye Care as a clinical technician assisting several ophthalmologists. She returned to college in 2005, and earned her doctor of optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2009. Through the ICO optometric program, Dr. Wells completed externships at the Lebanon (PA) Veteran Affairs Medical Center, Advanced Eyecare Center and Dishler Eye Institute in Denver, and the Omaha Eye and Laser Institute.
After completing optometry school, Dr. Wells spent an additional year completing a residency in ocular disease and low vision at the Kansas City Veterans’ Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Wells joined Midwest Eye Care in July 2010. Dr. Wells is licensed for the practice of optometry by the state examining board of Iowa. She is a member of the Nebraska Optometric Association, American Optometric Association and American Academy of Optometry.

Christal was able to fit me in AFTER Dr Geist Cancelled Two Consecutive Appointments!
Dr. Wells is great! She’s friendly, compassionate and knows how to tweak my Rx each year to improve my eyesight as I age. She tells me what’s ahead (cataract surgery eventually) and assures me my eyes are healthy. Every year, Dr. Wells is terrific!
