Dr. Kristopher Avant, an Oklahoma native and local graduate from Yukon High School, received his Bachelor’s of Science degree at the University of Oklahoma and obtained his medical degree from Oklahoma State University Health Sciences Center.
Dr. Avant completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Bone & Joint Hospital at St. Anthony in Oklahoma City and completed a Hand & Upper Extremity Fellowship in Tampa, Florida, at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute. While in Tampa, Dr. Avant had the opportunity to work extensively at the Shriner’s Hospital for children.
In addition to practicing a comprehensive range of general orthopaedics including trauma, joint replacement, and sports medicine, Dr. Avant specializes in Hand, Wrist, Elbow, Shoulder, and Microvascular Surgery.
Dr. Avant sees patients throughout the week at our OKC, Yukon, and Shawnee locations.

I appreciate a Doctor Who doesn’t just see you as a patient but also as a person, Doctor Avant knows how to take your mind off the procedure that he’s about to perform. And he has a good sense of humor making you laugh. And he makes sure that you are pain free while he performs the surgery. Very knowledgeable Doctor and if any reason I would need to see one, Dr. Avant would be it.
His office staff and Dr.Avant NEVER disappoints answering all and any questions. Dr Avant never talks over your head and explain what the deal is whether your shoulder knee hip and etc. always were for him to everyone I know.
He explains everything so thoroughly and I love the fact that he doesn’t push medication
