Dr. Kristopher Avant, an Oklahoma native and local graduate from Yukon High School, received his Bachelor’s of Science degree at the University of Oklahoma and obtained his medical degree from Oklahoma State University Health Sciences Center.
Dr. Avant completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Bone & Joint Hospital at St. Anthony in Oklahoma City and completed a Hand & Upper Extremity Fellowship in Tampa, Florida, at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute. While in Tampa, Dr. Avant had the opportunity to work extensively at the Shriner’s Hospital for children.
In addition to practicing a comprehensive range of general orthopaedics including trauma, joint replacement, and sports medicine, Dr. Avant specializes in Hand, Wrist, Elbow, Shoulder, and Microvascular Surgery.
Dr. Avant sees patients throughout the week at our OKC, Yukon, and Shawnee locations.

Dr. Avant and his staff are an excellent team. I had to have a Black Locust thorn removed from the back of my hand. Which was severely infected, swollen, and painful. From prepping for surgery, during and after, The upmost care for sterilization, and Comfort of myself was top priority.
Doctor Avant took time to discuss my symptoms and current level of function. He asked insightful questions that helped me explain my symptoms. Extremely knowledgeable and helpful in discussing treatment options. It was a 5 star experience.

Dr. Avant is one of the best orthopedic surgeons I’ve had the privilege of knowing. He performed a complete reverse shoulder procedure on my left arm. If I should ever have a need for an orthopedic surgeon again, I will most definitely contact him. Doctor Avant is kind and caring, listening to all of his patience. Words cannot express how thankful I was to have him as my surgeon. Doctor Avant has surrounded himself with a competent, thorough and effective team of PA’s, nurses and receptionist. I highly recommend doctor Avant and his team. I am a truly satisfied patient.
