Dr. Kristina Quirolgico, M.D., is a physiatrist who is fellowship-trained in primary care sports medicine. She has a special interest in taking care of patients with foot and ankle injuries and specializes in musculoskeletal ultrasound, peripheral joint injections both with and without ultrasound guidance, PRP injections, and extracorporeal shockwave therapy. A former dancer herself, Dr. Quirolgico has experience providing medical care for dancers of all genres. She founded the Performing Arts Medicine Collaborative at the Hospital for Special Surgery where she served as Co-Medical Director. She is passionate about helping artists and athletes of all levels continue to perform, and uses a multi-disciplinary, team-based approach to restoring function and quality of life.

During her fellowship, she was a team physician for Rutgers University and Princeton University Athletics covering football, field hockey, soccer, lacrosse, basketball, ice hockey, and wrestling. She is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) and has been awarded the 2021 AMSSM Young Investigator’s Research Grant in support of her IRB-approved prospective controlled research study comparing focused vs radial shockwave therapy in treatment of chronic plantar fasciitis. She is also a member of the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS), American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R), International Association for Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS) and Performing Arts Medicine Association (PAMA). She has lectured internationally at the IADMS and PAMA Annual Symposiums, nationally at the AMSSM Annual Symposium, and regionally at Sports Medicine Fellowship programs at the Hospital for Special Surgery and Mount Sinai, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency programs at Kessler and New York Presbyterian – Columbia and Cornell. She currently serves on the curriculum committee for AOFAS and serves as ultrasound teaching faculty for AMSSM.
