I could not have had a better experience. It took some patience to first eliminate possibilities. Since I’m 80, the MRI showed some bulging on L 3, 4, & 5. But during my visit I explained that my right heel was numb. Upon further examination, Dr. Thompson discovered that I had a bone spur between L5 & S1. He gave me several options, but stressed that surgery was the only permanent solution. Two weeks later he did the surgery and six weeks later I’m back to normal activities. I’d give him 10 stars if they were available.

He thoroughly explained the procedure he would do to take care of my fractured hip.and answered my questions .Using a walker I was able to walk down the hallway the following day with a minimal amount of pain medication and relatively no pain. My experience with Dr. Thompson was somewhat unpleasant. I wasn't going to leave a review only because I couldn't imagine what the doctors and staff of Campbell Clinic must be going through to have just lost a loved one by a selfish, belligerent, etc.... patient. I could feel the tension in the room. My doctor, who always walked into the room with a handshake, a big smile, talkative, and always had a listening ear, wasn't at this visit 😔 While trying to explain and get some information on things, I felt rushed and unheard. I even had a nurse waiting for me at the door to walk me out and point to the exit (now this was new). I don't think anyone was being rude. However, possibly suffering and grieving from their loss. Or maybe the information I was sharing should have been with Doctor Hastings. I don't know, but I do sincerely apologize if that was the case. I know this must be an incredibly difficult time for Campbell Clinic family. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Back pain and all failed attempts to elevate it short of surgery is why I was finally referred to Dr Thompson. The pain radiated down my left leg and eventually numbed two of the toes of my left foot. I walked bent over toward my left side and had to use crutches to lessen the pressure to ease the pain. Still I was only able to walk a few feet before stopping to lift my foot up off the ground long enough to ease the thropping in this lower leg and, thus, walk this way until I reached my destination- I was ready for surgery. Dr Thompson preformed the operation in 3 hours and after 3 more hours to recover I was released in the care of a loved one and we crashed the malls in MS to browse, to shop and to walk and walk I did- upright. Dr Thompson restored me to a previous state, saved me from an uncertain future, not to mention the pain, and I would not hesitate to ask for his help if I ever injure my back again- God forbid.

Dr. Thompson is the BEST! He listened and explained everything to the fullest. He took good care of my mother and now he has me as a patient. I was so afraid of the outcome but he he assured me that I will be fine. More doctors need to follow suit. This is a caring and down to earth physician. Dr Thompson preformed surgery on my back 6 months ago. I had severe pain in leg and foot. After surgery my pain is gone. He listens, is very thorough and I couldn't have been more pleased with my surgery results.

Great doctor

He is professional and efficient. However, I have two problems with my visit--1. Why do you overbook appointments to the point that I have to wait one hour and twenty minutes past my "scheduled" appointment to actually see him. 2. I spoke to a supervisor today while in the waiting room re patients wearing masks below their noses. Please provide a monitor on each floor waiting area to stop these fools from being a health hazard to us all.
