Dr. Keith VanderGriend, a partner at Parkway General Surgeons, received his medical degree and training in 1999 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center before returning to the Bellingham area to practice. With nearly 20 years of surgical experience, he brings a dedicated skill set to the diagnosis and treatment of his patients. He specializes in colorectal surgical care, simple and complex hernia management or repair, gallbladder disease, colon cancer, advanced laparoscopic procedures and emergent trauma care.
As a Bellingham native, Dr. VanderGriend is very active in the community and involved in Young Life youth mentoring and Bellingham Food Bank, and participates in international mission trips that benefit from his training and background.
Together with his wife and two sons, Dr. VanderGriend enjoys a wide range of outdoor activities. They love and appreciate the Pacific Northwest and the beauty it has to offer.

Simply put - I trust him!! If he's not worried then I'm not worried. He's personable, he takes time explaining things & he always makes time if I have questions.

Dr VanderGriend was very straightforward and easy to talk to. He laid out exactly how the procedure would go and explained his recommendations for treatment clearly. Having a conversation with Dr. VanderGriend before the surgery helped ease any anxiety I had.
Takes time to talk with you about your concerns and takes very good care of his patients both before and during surgery. His staff are all excellent as well. His stitches also are very neat and looks like they will heal to a barely noticable scar.
