Dr. Harkins, a Scottsbluff native, grew up around medicine. Dr. Harkins joined Oregon Trail Eye Center in 2019. He is a graduate of the Nebraska College of Medicine. He completed his residency training in Ophthalmology at the University of Nebraska. He earned his Fellowship in Vitreoretinal Surgery at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, NC.
When Dr. Harkins is not in the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife and six (6) children hiking and camping.
Currently, Dr. Harkins sees patients at our home clinic and does surgeries in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He travels to see patients at Valentine, Ogallala, and Grant, Nebraska. He also travels to see patients and perform surgery in Douglas, Wyoming.

Dr. Harkins is extremely knowledgeable and a talented ophthalmologist. He treats patients with respect and kindness. I trust him with my eyes. The staff is excellent also.

Dr Harkins is alwaysvery professional, knowledgeable, and most of all friendly! I never feel like I am just a "chart" or stranger he sees once in a while! He always takes the time to answer any questions or concerns I may have, and honestly, I wouldn't see anyone else, or trust anyone else, with my eyes!
