This was my first visit to see Dr. Rao, and I feel very fortunate that I have found an excellent ophthalmologist! She was very friendly and welcoming. She examined my eyes and found that my eyes are in good condition, which was nice to hear. I’m glad that my doctor’s
office referred me to Advanced Eye Medical Group and that Dr. Rao is my doctor.

Dr. Kavita Rao, M.D. is a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist who has been serving patients in Orange County since 2016. Her clinical interests include diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eye and meibomian gland dysfunction.
Dr. Rao is a native of Southern California. She completed her undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley and then went on to earn a masters and her medical degree from Chicago Medical School. She completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston. After graduation, Dr. Rao worked at MD Anderson Cancer Center for a few years before returning with her family to California. Dr. Rao then worked as an associate clinical professor of Ophthalmology at UC Irvine before making the transition to private practice.
Dr. Rao lives in Irvine with her husband who is also a physician, her two boys, and a golden doodle. She enjoys family time, cooking, fitness, and is an avid skier.
