Dr. Karthik Ponnusamy is fellowship trained in hip and knee replacements. He specializes in arthroscopy, hip and knee conditions, total and partial knee replacements, total hip replacements (including the direct anterior approach), and general orthopaedics. He sees patients in the Canton and Woodstock offices.
Dr. Ponnusamy received his Medical Degree from Stanford University following a Master of Science Degree and a Bachelor of Science Degree both in Biomedical Engineering with honors from Johns Hopkins University. He then completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery also from Johns Hopkins University. After residency, he completed a Hip and Knee Replacement Fellowship at the University of Western Ontario. During his fellowship, he received additional training and earned a Master of Science in Surgery.
Dr. Ponnusamy has contributed significant research to the medical community including presentations and publications on stem cells, tissue engineering, robotic surgery, and perioperative patient management. He also has numerous awards and honors including the Ronald Byank Chief Resident Servant Leadership Award, Chief Resident Research Award, and Rhodes Scholar Finalist.
Dr. Ponnusamy lives in Woodstock with his wife and son. He enjoys hiking, traveling, and photography

Dr. Ponnusamy is compassionate and has a warmth about him that makes patients feel relaxed. This is my second joint replacement with him and have been pleased.
I appreciated the way he listened to my concerns about the difference of having robotic surgery or not. He also explained the difference in the way he prescribes physical therapy.
