Dr. Kali Gerace, M.D., grew up in Ashland, Kentucky, and is proud to be a native Kentuckian and Kentucky Colonel. She attended the University of Louisville for both her undergraduate and medical degrees as a GEMS Scholar. She moved to St. Louis, Missouri in 2010 for her pediatric residency at Washington University followed by a year serving as Chief Resident. She completed an Allergy and Immunology fellowship at Vanderbilt University in 2015, where she saw a wide variety of both pediatric and adult patients. She was awarded the Sam Marney Award for Excellence in Allergy/Immunology Fellowship at Vanderbilt in 2015. She is double board-certified in pediatrics and allergy/immunology. Her research and publications have included a review of penicillin allergy testing practices and asthma education and medication administration in schools.
Dr. Gerace has enjoyed volunteering her expertise in underserved communities, including working in Monrovia, Liberia in 2011. She has also enjoyed serving on the ethics committee for the Home of the Innocents and as a mentor to medical students and resident physicians for both the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville. She enjoys all aspects of the practice of allergy and immunology, but she has a special interest in the treatment of allergic rhinitis, severe asthma, eczema, pediatric food allergy, and drug allergy.
She is married with one daughter and one son, and she loves spending her free time with her family and friends.

She was very polite, and took her time explaining the procedure, and the results.
The medical care was very frustrating. While I was told to avoid OTC antihistamines, I was never informed that my prescription sleep medication would interfere with the skin prick test. It is the responsibility of providers to communicate how medications affect upcoming appointments. Because they failed to read my medical records beforehand, my testing was completely invalidated, causing a direct delay in my care. Furthermore, I went in mainly for hives, but my other allergy issues were completely ignored. While the provider answered some questions, she made me feel invalidated, as if my health issues weren't real. My medical needs were not met, and because of this miscommunication and lack of preparation, I will be reporting this delay of care to UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Kentucky, my KY Medicaid MCO.
Dr Gerace was very thorough, listened to me and came up with a plan.

I live my doctor, unfortunately I had an appt for 10:40am I got there at 10:27, checked in and the few that were there were getting shots another woman came in after me, was called back first and I waited 45 minutes, to be seen. I need a hip replacement, and no one bothered to say anything but make me wait, that's not fair, yes, I let my feeling be know I was in such pain from sitting so long I couldn't think. I don't think that was fair than it's always, oh I'm sorry I fell behind. Shouldn't you have consideration for disabled and handicap patients.
