Originally from Tucson, Arizona, Dr. Ledesma pursued his undergraduate studies at the University of Arizona, where he graduated summa cum laude with honors. He completed his medical education at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) in the Bay Area before moving on to his orthopedic residency at Stanford University.
Dr. Ledesma further honed his expertise through a fellowship in spine surgery at the renowned San Diego Spine Foundation.
Dr. Ledesma is an active member of leading professional societies, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the North American Spine Society (NASS) and the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (SMISS). Through these organizations, he stays at the forefront of innovation and contributes to the continued evolution of minimally invasive and endoscopic techniques.
In addition to his memberships, Dr. Ledesma has shared his expertise through podium and poster presentations at national and international spine conferences, where he has presented original research and clinical advancements to peers in the field.
Throughout his career, Dr. Ledesma has also participated in community outreach and student mentorship, reflecting his commitment to education and service both inside and outside the operating room.
Dr. Ledesma brings over eight years of surgical experience to Spine Medicine and Surgery of Long Island. He’s practiced in diverse clinical settings across the country. In each role, Dr. Ledesma has earned a reputation for his precision, thoughtful approach, and dedication to minimally invasive solutions.
Research has been a central part of Dr. Ledesma’s career. He has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles, abstracts, and book chapters on topics ranging from endoscopic and minimally invasive spine surgery to biomechanical studies of surgical hardware. His work has been published in respected journals, such as Spine and World Neurosurgery.
When he’s not with patients, Dr. Ledesma enjoys an active life with his family, including his two young boys and dog. He can often be found exploring the outdoors and is an avid hiker, trail runner and snowboarder.
At home, Dr. Ledesma loves cooking and baking and even dabbles in homebrewing. Creative by nature, he’s also a novice photographer.
