Dr. Justin Gutman has been practicing ophthalmology and vitreoretinal surgery since 2012. Prior to joining the practice, he ran the retina service at the two largest county hospitals' tertiary referral centers (in Texas) that exposed him to the most complex of medical and surgical retinal pathologies.

Dr. Justin Gutman has been practicing ophthalmology and vitreoretinal surgery for 7 years. He comes to join the Retina Center of New Jersey after working in both Myrtle Beach, SC and Dallas, TX.
Dr. Gutman speaks Spanish and will be working out of the Bloomfield, North Bergen, Ramsey, Teaneck and Union, NJ offices. He is also happy that his patients will now potentially have access to leading-edge clinical research trials.
While working in Dallas, TX and Fort Worth, TX, he ran the retina service at the two largest county hospitals, tertiary referral centers that exposed him to the most complex of medical and surgical retinal pathologies.
Prior to moving to Texas, he worked at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, NY where he served as chief resident in 2013. This experience further bolstered his exposure to retinal disease from a diverse population that included patients from countries all over the world.
Before a career in ophthalmology, he spent a year in San Bernadino, CA for his transitional internship, and went to medical school at SUNY Upstate in Syracuse. He graduated cum laude from the University of Florida.
Dr. Gutman was born and raised in New York, and the birth of his son Noah in the fall of 2016 has motivated a move home to be closer to family. He is thrilled to join the Retina Center of New Jersey and to serve the patients of northern, New Jersey.
