Judson L. Penton, MD is a fellowship-trained and board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee. He treats a wide variety of athletic injuries and holds a certificate of advanced qualification in Sports Medicine from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Penton completed his fellowship in Sports Medicine at Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center. There, he gained further expertise in the latest arthroscopic surgical techniques while training under two past presidents of the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He received his orthopedic surgery residency training at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center and his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame.
Dr. Penton is currently a member of the medical staff supporting men’s and women’s Division I varsity sports at the University of Louisiana. Previously, Dr. Penton was the head team physician and orthopedic surgeon for all men’s and women’s Division I varsity sports at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond. He also served as the Medical Director of Sports Medicine for North Oaks Hospital System and was recognized as a four-time recipient of the North Oaks Health System Champion, awarded for excellence in healthcare.
Dr. Penton is an active member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery (AAOS), and the Louisiana Orthopedic Association (LOS).

At every appointment they take the time to listen to my concerns, answer all my questions and clearly explains my treatment options.
Dr. Penton takes time with his patients and genuinely cares for them. He ensures they understand the diagnosis. His staff is friendly and great to work with.
My first visit to Dr Penton office was highly approved. The service was great from the moment I arrived. Everyone treated me as if I had always been treated there. Dr Penton was great. He explained everything to me in terms that I could understand. Thank you all for making me feel welcome.
