Dr. Joy Long is a native of Lancaster County and a graduate of Conestoga Valley High School. She received her M.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2002. After graduating from her residency in orthopedic surgery at the George Washington University in Washington, DC, she completed a fellowship in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at the University of Michigan.
A board-certified orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Long is a candidate member of both the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. She is also a member of the Ruth Jackson Society for women in orthopedics.
Dr. Long has a special interest in arthroscopic knee, hip, shoulder, and ankle surgery as well as reconstructive shoulder and knee surgery.

Excellent surgeon! She really cares about her patients and makes sure she spends adequate time with each. I never feel rushed. She answers all questions.
Ms Long is a pleasant,easy to visit with doctor.
Always willing to spend appropriate amount of time to assess progress and pain levels.
Joy is very personable, very concerned about her patients.
She spent a great deal of time with us. She spoke directly to our daughter, focusing not just on her injury, but her overall wellbeing. Her approach resonated with our teen daughter, and I know my daughter will heed her advice.
Dr Long did surgery on my shoulder to address pain in my rotator cuff and did a great job relieving my soreness. She explained everything clearly, reviewed the x-rays with me, and was open to answer any questions and concerns.
Dr. Long was reassuring in my recovery, answered my questions, and forwarded her recommendations to PT.
Dr.Long is always helpful with answering my questions.
I was here for an assessment on my knees and she couldn’t possibly do a thorough one with only looking at X-rays. I knew nothing was broken and I have arthritis-nothing new there. So she didn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know.
