Dr. Joy Long is a native of Lancaster County and a graduate of Conestoga Valley High School. She received her M.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2002. After graduating from her residency in orthopedic surgery at the George Washington University in Washington, DC, she completed a fellowship in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at the University of Michigan.
A board-certified orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Long is a candidate member of both the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. She is also a member of the Ruth Jackson Society for women in orthopedics.
Dr. Long has a special interest in arthroscopic knee, hip, shoulder, and ankle surgery as well as reconstructive shoulder and knee surgery.

She listened to what I said.
I really enjoyed Dr. Long evaluating my left arm irritation. I would be glad to have her as my permanent physician. Dr. Long talking of my options helped me better understand what I could do to nurse my hurts. Dr. has a great bedside manner and I truly will enlist her in the future if needed. Thank You Dr. Long!

I had just had several instances of feeling unheard and invalidated following a significant injury, and Dr. Long immediately answered my questions and set me up with next steps of treatment.
Extremely professional, yet empathetic. Expressed her gratitude that she could be available at the urgent care visit for a post surgical issue.
Dr. Long and all of her staff were amazing. I’m so grateful for all of them. I was in so much pain and they did everything they could to help me and then I needed anesthesia to put my shoulder back in place and I’m so grateful for them for doing that because I could not handle it any other way thank you again to everyone
