Once again my appointment took a few minutes shy of 60 minutes. The receptionist who checked me in was courteous and helpful. She gave me a sheet of paper explaining what field vision test is. This practice at Dr. Gould's (Eyecare Center, Bloomfield) is extremely helpful. A few minutes before my appointment time. I was greeted by Melinda and escorted to the exam room. Melinda was cheerful, welcoming and caring. She also explained every procedural step as to what to expect. She took my eye pressure, had her senior verify it, made sure that I was comfortable with the straps and level of placement of the field vision test equipment. Dr. Gould and his assistant are always a pleasure to meet. Once again in the list of Best physicians of NJ (2025), Dr. Gould is thorough and at the same time extremely knowledgeable and helpful, taking time to explain the details of the eye exam, visually comparison to historical test data for me (the patient) answering my questions in plain English.

I could not see well before the surgery. Now I can see extremely well. Dr Gould is geat. More importantly, the staff there are very professional. They exemplify great interpersonal and human relation skills that are synergistic to the mission statement of that eye clinic. I have already recommended three family members to the clinic. They, too, feel the same.

We travel 38 milesback to our hometown to have Dr Gould and the many other doctors before him take. Care of our eyes! ( Going back to Dr Holtz!, as a 4th grader with my first pair of glasses) Peter C.

Dr. Joshua M. Gould is a board certified ophthalmologist providing comprehensive and compassionate eye care. He is also a fellowship trained glaucoma specialist. Dr. Gould provides complete eye care with careful attention to each patient’s particular needs. As a glaucoma specialist, he is an expert in medical, laser, and surgical management of glaucoma as well as cataract surgery.
Dr. Gould is a cum laude graduate of the State University of New York at Binghamton, with membership in Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he ranked 1st in his graduating class and received membership in the National Medical Honor Society. Dr. Gould served his ophthalmology residency at the highly respected North Shore University Hospital / NYU School of Medicine in New York. He served a fellowship in glaucoma at Tufts University – New England Eye Center and Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston in Boston Massachusetts.
Dr. Gould co-authored a chapter on lens related glaucoma in the major textbook, Albert & Jakobiec's Principles & Practice of Ophthalmology, 3rd Edition.
Dr. Gould, is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Glaucoma Society and a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. His hospital affiliations include Clara Maass Medical Center, part of the Barnabas Health System, Essex Specialized Surgical Institute and Hackensack University Medical Center at Mountainside.
Dr. Gould performs state of the art no-stitch cataract surgery using advanced technology intraocular lenses; laser cataract surgery using the femtosecond laser; glaucoma surgery as well as many laser procedures for glaucoma including SLT, MLT and micro-pulse cyclophotocoagulation.
Dr. Gould performs traditional glaucoma surgery such as trabeculectomy and tube shunts as well as minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS). He is one of a few glaucoma specialists statewide to be certified in trabectome surgery. This is a minimally invasive glaucoma surgery that improves the natural fluid drainage of the eye. Dr. Gould also performs iStent glaucoma surgery. Implanted at the time of cataract surgery, the iStent is a tiny tube placed in the eyes natural drain to help reduce eye pressure in patients with cataracts and glaucoma.
