Dr. Joseph Nessler received his orthopedic training at the Rochester Mayo Clinic. He has a specialty practice in hip and knee joint replacement as well as revision joint replacement. Dr. Nessler joined St. Cloud Orthopedic Association in 1991, and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons as well as the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
Dr. Nessler is a consultant for Stryker Orthopedics, a worldwide leader in Orthopedics implants and Robotics for Orthopedic surgery. Currently, he consults in the development of new surgical techniques, clinical testing of new implant designs as well as computer and robotically assisted surgery. Dr. Nessler has developed a muscle-sparing hip replacement technique in conjunction with Stryker. In July, 2004 computer assisted navigation was incorporated into his hip surgeries. Navigation in knee surgeries began in January 2005. Robotic assisted surgery in conjunction with muscle sparing hip and knee techniques now allows Dr. Nessler to offer quick recovery and outpatient hip and knee replacement procedures to patients that qualify. Dr. Nessler is currently involved in developing methods for using 3D computer models and specialized pre-operative imaging to individualize each patient’s hip replacement surgery to maximize function after surgery.
I have had Dr. Nessler for hip and knee surgeries. He is an excellent doctor and has kept me going. He is very honest in telling you what he has to do and the risks involved.
Pleasant and informative
He is so knowledgeable and he does amazing work! He replaced both of my hips and one knee. Dr.Nessler also replaced my dad’s knee in 1998 and he replaced it again in 2024, that’s unheard of. He is definitely a doctor you can trust.
Very competent
We thought he was very informative and reassuring. He was very thoughtful and helpful.
I am pleased with each team member that I saw today.
Very easy to take with.
Doctor Nessler is always kind and helpful. He takes time to answer all my questions. He always seems to really care about my situation. He will be greatly missed when he retires.
Very caring and helpful!
If I had a third hip, I would want Dr. Kessler to replace that one, too. I wish him a happy retirement. He deserves it!
