"Dr. Joseph R. Misson, M.D. is board-certified in orthopaedic surgery and holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in sports medicine. He is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and the Medical College of Ohio (former; now The University of Toledo Medical School). Dr. Misson completed his residency at the Grand Rapids Medical Education and Research Center and completed a fellowship (an additional year of focused, specialized training) in orthopaedic arthroscopy and sports medicine at New Mexico Orthopaedics in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and an active member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
Dr. Misson serves as the orthopaedic team physician for Bluffton University and Shawnee High School. He specializes in the treatment of complex knee and shoulder injuries through minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques including ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, and shoulder dislocation and labral surgery. He performs primary total joint replacements including robotic-assisted total knee replacement, partial knee replacement, shoulder replacement, and reverse shoulder replacement. He also performs carpal tunnel, cubital tunnel, and trigger finger release procedures. Dr. Misson is certified in cartilage transplantation of the knee (meniscus and ACI or Genzyme procedures). His fellowship training and continued education keep him at the forefront of the latest advancements in Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine."
