Dr. Joseph Mando, M.D., earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, followed by a residency at the University of Kentucky and a Fellowship at The University of Texas Southwestern. His fascination with science, particularly biology, sparked early in life, driving his desire to explore the human body in depth. A pivotal moment during his senior year of high school, when he studied a human cadaver, solidified his interest in pursuing a medical career.

Dr. Mando grew up immersed in his family’s retail optical business, which shared a building with an ophthalmology clinic. This environment cultivated an early appreciation for optics and their role in enhancing vision. His aspiration to become a surgeon made ophthalmology the perfect intersection of his passions.
