Dr. Joseph A. Jestus, M.D. is a board-certified neurosurgeon on the team at Tier 1 Orthopedic and Neurosurgical Institute. He strives to provide the highest quality of care to patients throughout Cookeville and Crossville, Tennessee.
A native of Chicago, Illinois, Dr. Jestus received his medical degree in 1991 from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He subsequently completed his residency in neurological and spinal surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where he was involved in research and clinical trials in the areas of stroke and spinal pathology. Recruited right out of residency by CRMC, Dr. Jestus moved with his family to Cookeville and started the neurosurgical program here.
Dr. Jestus is a diplomate to the American Board of Neurological Surgery and is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the AANS/CNS Section on Disorders of the Spine and Peripheral Nerves, the Tennessee Medical Association, and the Putnam County Medical Society. He also serves as chairman of the Surgery Quality Committee at CRMC.
While not practicing medicine, Dr. Jestus enjoys training for road races and spending time with his family.

Dr. Jestus, listen to what I needed to say about my needs and he was very supportive and kind. He explained to me how the way treating my ailments was going to be very clear and I was pleased.

Phenomenal surgeon! So happy with his work!! If I wasn't 71 years old, I’d say I’m almost brand new.
He was friendly. Examined my mobility Shared his opinion of MRI I had done on my neck. And shared his many years of experience, and knowledge. Give me a prescription for inflammation And ordered an MRI on my shoulder. Very respectful answering questions I felt assured he knows best way to take care of issues I am experiencing. Staff is extremely helpful and supportive
