The appointment was a complete waste of time. He spent an excessive amount of time explaining that doctors don’t know everything and then told me that my numbness and tingling in my lower legs and feet are being caused by a pinched nerve. He then told me my MRI didn’t show any pinched nerves. So, I asked what could be causing the problem and he admitted he didn’t know. I explained that when I bend down forward to do any kind of work, the numbness starts. He told me to quit bending down! I could have gotten the same advice from a comedian on Saturday Night Live. I also brought a printout of a study that suggested my Modic type 1 endplate change, which was confirmed by my MRI, could be causing bone marrow edema that might be present due to an infection. He immediately commented that BME is not caused by an infection and was confident that I didn’t have any infection in my lumber area. I asked if there was any tests to confirm his position. He said my problem was just arthritis.
