Dr. Joseph A. Gil is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in treating hand and upper extremity conditions. He is a board eligible orthopedic surgeon with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
With advanced training in hand and upper extremity surgery, Dr. Gil has an interest in brachial plexus injuries, nerve conditions, tendon transfers, soft tissue reconstruction, wrist and finger arthritis, athletic wrist injuries, and upper extremity trauma.
Dr. Gil earned his medical degree at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine, and completed his orthopedic surgery residency and an orthopedic trauma fellowship at Brown University. He later completed a fellowship in hand, upper extremity, and microvascular surgery at the Mayo Clinic.
With a passion to advance orthopedic research, Dr. Gil has co-authored over 120 clinical and basic science research papers. He is also the author of several book chapters and has presented his studies at multiple national and international meetings.

Dr Gil was thoughtful about my issue and suggested we try several things before looking at surgery. However, when the time came, I couldn't have had better care. He prepared me for what we'd need to do, what to expect after surgery, and helped ensure that I recovered well. Can't ask for more.
On time and answers all questions
Dr. Gil is AMAZING!!! He is very patient, knowledgeable, & most of all, he is willing to try things before immediately suggesting surgery. I recently had hand surgery by him due to an issue I had been dealing with close to a year. Everything he said was exactly that, very accurate, no secrets. My hand immediately felt better the following day after surgery to the point I had to remind myself I just had surgery so I need to take it easy. His entire team is also awesome and very responsive.
I’m very pleased that Dr. Gill was my hand surgeon.
