Jose Alberto Bermea, M.D., was born in Del Rio, Texas, and raised in Acuna, Coahuila. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Universidad de Monterrey in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico in 2012. Born and raised in a border town, Dr. Bermea is passionate about serving the Mexican-American and Hispanic communities, while providing the best patient outcomes for all his patients throughout San Antonio. Before joining Gonzaba in 2025, Dr. Bermea previously worked at Alamo Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons, University Health, and is an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio (UTHSCSA). He served as Chief Resident at one of the largest Family Medicine residency programs in the country, at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center-Permian Basin, in Odessa, TX. He specializes in Family Medicine and Hospital Medicine.
