Dr. Jose Alfredo Venegas Jr., M.D.

Dr. Jose Alfredo Venegas Jr. is an Internal Medicine doctor at Gonzaba Medical Group. Dr. Venegas earned his Doctor of Medicine from Texas Tech University Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, in El Paso, Texas, and completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Prior to, Dr. Venegas graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas State University College of Science and Engineering, in San Marcos, Texas, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology.

Born and raised in Laredo, Texas and growing up in South Texas, Dr. Venegas knew early on the importance of treating patients as family. He joined Gonzaba Medical Group in 2026, sharing, “the term ‘Como Familia’ resonated deeply with me. I understood it to mean treating patients with the same care, respect, and commitment one would offer family.”

Dr. Venegas specializes in Internal Medicine. He taught at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio, as a Hospital Medicine Physician and Nocturnal Hospitalist. He’s passionate about listening to his patients, with compassion and integrity, and ensuring that each of his patients receives quality healthcare.

Dr. Jose Alfredo Venegas Jr. enjoys spending time with his wife, children, playing Jeopardy, and golfing.
