Dr. Johnathon Bishop, M.D., originally from Nottoway County, Virginia, completed his undergraduate studies at Hampden-Sydney College near Farmville, VA, where he majored in biology and minored in chemistry and classical studies. He earned his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) in Norfolk, VA, where he cultivated a passion for pediatrics and research.
Dr. Bishop completed his residency in general pediatrics at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) in Memphis, TN, with a focus on hospital medicine and oncology. During his residency, he gained valuable experience working and studying at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. He is board certified in general pediatrics.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Bishop is an accomplished martial artist, holding a black belt in Okinawan karate, a yellow belt in Tang Soo Do, and a stripe 3 white belt in Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He also follows mixed martial arts and college football as a sports enthusiast. In his free time, he enjoys listening to music, playing video games, spoiling his dog Brokk, cooking, hunting, fishing, target shooting, and participating in tabletop and role-playing games.
