Born in the Philippines and raised in Southern California, Dr. Yap earned his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and medical degree at Medical College of Wisconsin. He completed post-education with a general surgery internship and orthopedic residency at Mclaren Regional Medical Center, and a fellowship in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at John Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Yap is a partner at OrthoMichigan with over 20 years of experience specializing in sports medicine and adult reconstruction, as well as hand, shoulder and knee surgery. He enjoys physical activities like golf, bowling, fishing, rooting for Green Bay Packers, watching comedies, and cooking gourmet meals.

He's kind and compassionate He's excellent at explaining things so I understood what was going to happen during and after surgery And he was there when I needed extra help....he has a good bedside manner and a good sense of humor
