Dr Neidecker was excellent, he took his time with us and explained things to my young daughter, and helped clarify the short and long-term plan so we knew what to expect and help us to help her.

I understand that it wasn’t Dr. Neidecker’s fault that I was referred to him by Jordan De Lay from Dr. Ahsana’s team, but it seems that my case specifically didn’t need a sports medicine evaluation so my visit was a waste of time and money.

My daughter went to see him for pain on her ankle, knee and hip. She limps without noticing she is only 15. She was there with my husband and they reported feeling rushed and dismissive. He only ordered an ankle X-ray and dismissed her hip pain altogether.

Dr. John Neidecker was born and raised in New York on Long Island. He has wanted to be a physician from his earliest recollection. He was an athlete and his own experience with injuries led him to pursue a career in Sports Medicine. Knowing this, he decided to obtain his undergraduate degree and certification in athletic training from High Point University. After college, he then worked as a certified athletic trainer at South Side High School on Long Island. He then went on to go to medical school at Rowan University, School of Osteopathic Medicine in south New Jersey. He remained there to complete his residency in family practice and served as chief resident. After residency, he went on to his sports medicine fellowship at the world-famous Cleveland Clinic, working with the Cleveland Indians, Lake Erie Crushers and Oberlin College.
After his medical training was complete, Dr. Neidecker went back to south New Jersey to work at the Cooper Bone & Joint Institute where he served as a team physician for Rutgers-Camden University, Rowan University, and the Philadelphia Wings. (Professional Indoor Lacrosse)
One of Dr. Neidecker’s passions is ringside medicine. He is the Vice President of the Association of Ringside Physicians (ARP), an international non-profit organization, dedicated to the health and protection of boxers and mixed martial artists. He is active in covering combat sports events in both New York and North Carolina. He was the lead author or the ARPs Consensus Statement on concussion in combat sports and can be seen working cage-side at Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) events.
Dr. Neidecker is also an active member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, and the National Athletic Trainers Association. In addition, he is a member and has received the award of Fellow from the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine.
Dr. Neidecker is involved in medical education and is an assistant professor at Campbell University, School of Osteopathic Medicine. He volunteers his time and gives lectures to students and healthcare providers on the local, national and international levels. He offers to have medical students, residents, and fellows work with him for their clinical rotations.
With Orthopaedic Specialists of North Carolina, Dr. Neidecker serves as one of the team physicians for the Carolina Mudcats. He provides event coverage for Wake County high school football and wrestling. He is also involved annually with providing medical care at the North Carolina High School State Wrestling Championships.
