John Mak, M.D.

Dr. John Mak, MD, is a board-certified physician specializing in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine with National Spine & Pain Centers, practicing out of their Freehold and Toms River, New Jersey offices. He began his medical education by earning his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan before completing his Doctor of Medicine at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine.

Dr. Mak then performed an internal medicine internship at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center through Columbia University, followed by an anesthesiology and critical care residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center-Harvard Medical School. He finalized his advanced professional training with a specialized pain management fellowship at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center-Tufts University School of Medicine.

Dr. Mak utilizes a multi-disciplinary approach to clinical care, specializing in complex spinal and neuropathic conditions including herniated discs, spinal stenosis, CRPS, post-surgery pain, and cervicogenic headaches. He is highly specialized in advanced interventional therapies, including spinal cord stimulation, radiofrequency ablations, minimally invasive lumbar decompression (the mild procedure), transforaminal injections, and stellate ganglion and facet blocks.
