Dr. John DeStafeno, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in all aspects of refractive cataract surgery and laser surgery as well as the treatment of complex corneal diseases. He completed his 2-year fellowship at Duke University which focused on clinical research and the medical and surgical management of anterior segment disease.
Dr. DeStafeno has brought several innovative medical and surgical treatments to our area and is an experienced all-laser LASIK surgeon. In addition, Dr. DeStafeno was the first surgeon in Chester County to perform DSAEK corneal transplantation.
Recognized both locally and nationally for his excellence in eye care, Dr. DeStafeno has received numerous Top Doctor and Surgeon Awards. For the past several years, he has been selected by peers to instruct the LASIK Surgery Course at the annual American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting. Dr. DeStafeno also enjoys educating the future of eye care, instructing ophthalmology residents at Wills Eye Hospital at Thomas Jefferson.

This Dr.& team way above the others I went to or researched. To their one 15 min exam .. his team did 4-5 or more computerized tests, video prepared you for surgery. Team surgery Day well oiled and kind . He was encouraging during surgery. After care needs more . Instructions clear, paperwork great help with drops . Visit had a student. Without asking my consent. I let it be known. Also didn’t realize a new unmet Dr Dickey, would do follow up. I felt kind of sincerely but much more casual after care. They said all was well. After asking questions about my results I realized perhaps Dr. Stefano and I may have heard each other differently . I don’t consider being a asker of questions and thinking for myself a problem . I called in with concerns and they transferred me but call was dropped. No call back. It was Fourth of July weekend so do understand maybe understaffed. Going forward going all is well.. i will check in today or tomorrow as able . Would still highly recommend.
