Dr. John Greco is a member of The Orthopaedic Center Sports Medicine Team. He is board-certified in orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine. He specializes in arthroscopic and open reconstruction of the knee and shoulder. Dr. Greco is a volunteer Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama School of Medicine, Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine, and the University of Alabama in Birmingham Medical School
Dr. Greco is the head team physician for Alabama A & M University, the Huntsville Havoc hockey team, as well as numerous area high school athletic programs. He also serves as the Medical Director for Huntsville Hospital Sports Center, medical staff for the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA), a consultant for Major League Fishing (MLF), and Sports Medicine Physician for Strike King Lure Company’s Elite National Pro Fishing Staff. He is currently involved in research validating the clinical use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP), synthetic articular cartilage transplants, and research with Smith and Nephew about the long-term effects of bio composite results with anterior cruciate ligament screws.
Dr. Greco specializes in patellofemoral knee pain and rotator cuff treatment. He is an avid outdoorsman in both hunting and fishing, and treats many outdoorsmen for various ailments of the shoulder, knee, and elbow.

He took the time to listen to my concerns, explained everything clearly in a way I could understand, and never made me feel rushed. His examination was thorough, and I left feeling confident in both the diagnosis and the treatment plan. It’s rare to find a doctor who combines expertise with such a kind and reassuring manner. I’m very grateful for the care I received and would highly recommend him to anyone needing orthopedic care.
Great bedside manner
Dr. Greco was informative, kind informative, very knowledgeable. I appreciate that he didn’t want to immediately take me straight to surgery. He listen to what I had to say, and answered all of my questions, he put mind at ease. He wishing me a happy birthday, nice professional, and good at what they do.

Listens to my issues. Great results from previous surgery
After a lifetime of sports, I mean 75 years, Dr. Greco has repaired my husband’s multiple injuries and age related degenerative problems for the past 25 years. He has always been kind, takes time to explain, listens to problems and addresses each one, and he’s done a fabulous job repairing the damage with no complications after surgery. Highly recommend! And wonderful nurses/assistants too!
