Dr. John Mullen, M.D., combines exceptional experience in orthopedic medicine and surgery from private practice with New Milford Orthopedics as well as that gained while serving our nation as a medical officer/Lieutenant Commander and battalion surgeon. He was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon for Service in Liberia, as well as many honors from medical institutions. A specialist in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, and orthopedic trauma, Dr. Mullen works with patients of all ages and in all stages of fitness, from recreational athletes to professionals. Dr. Mullen has worked as a physician at Shea Stadium, Yankee Stadium, and Madison Square Garden, taking care of athletes, performers, and fans alike. At Madison Square Garden, he served as a tournament physician for the Big East Basketball Tournament for 18 years (2003-2020).
Dr. Mullen completed Orthopedic Surgery residencies at The Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan and at Cleveland’s Mt. Sinai Hospital, which is affiliated with Case Western Reserve Medical School. His medical career also includes being an emergency department physician and publishing in the Clinical Journal of Sports Medicine.
He’s the best ! The office is terrific to deal with. If I ever need orthopaedics again, no doubt I’d go there. :)

Everything about Dr. Mullen and his team is exceptional. They took very good care of me and I’m home now with a lot less pain than I was expecting. The nurses were wonderful!! I was very impressed that Dr. Mule called my ride personally to let him know that I was OK. Everything about my surgery was very professional, and I was treated with a lot of care and respect.
