Waited one whole hour to finally see him. I found him uncourteous and unfriendly. He spent 3 minutes with me at the most and then rushed out. He said there was nothing much to do for bursitis. I found plenty of suggestions in the Internet!! He didn't even mention one. I don't understand how he has such a high rating. I will never go back to see him. He did not help me.

Dr. John Chiavetta is a wonderful doctor and a gifted surgeon. I would recommend him to anyone needing knee or hip replacement. I had been suffering for months with severe bone on bone knee pain, but once my surgery was over and I stood to walk all the terrible pain was gone. I can’t thank Dr. Chiavetta and his surgical team enough for helping me to get back to walking and enjoying life again. Also to have Dr. Chiavetta call you the evening before your surgery to see if you have any questions or concerns, speaks volumes of his compassion.

The scar from the left done last November has shrunk and is barely noticeable. I have no pain at all from the right which was done in May. I'm back in Pilates over a month now.

I told him I had a total hip replacement on November 2-22, I told him I was in a lot of pain and he looked at an x-Ray from January. What if I hurt myself, he could have at least taken a fresh X-ray. It seemed like he was trying to protect the surgeon who did the replacement. I will be going to Wale Ortho.

After 1 hour of being left in the exam room following 30 minutes in the waiting room that must seat close to 100 people, I left. I never saw a doctor, a PA, a nurse, or any other clinical person. I had 3 X-rays taken of my knee but never heard from anyone about them. WAY overbooked. Guess my knee problem didn’t bring in enough money so they just left me in the exam room.

He did my hip replacement seven years ago and I have had no issues since. Dr. Chiavetta does great work and is a super nice guy. He is considerate and when you need it he gives adequate time. I think it's tough to have proper expectations when going to a specialist like this. During some of my immediate follow-ups, I felt his visits were quick but I think that is because I was doing well and he is simply checking progress and moving on. I realize this time is when most people have tons of questions. I think you have to listen to him when he says to be patient, give it time, and do your physical therapy. At my one year visit Dr. Chiavetta gave me lots of info and I will say after my TKR ,besides a little crepitus, I have virtually zero pain and am able to snowboard with the kids. Even the scar looks pretty good. Guy is a magic man IMO.

This was my first visit to Raleigh Orthopaedic and Dr. Chiavetta's office. He seems to be a great doctor ... very knowledgeable of his craft. My only complaint about the office was that I arrived to the office 30 minutes before my scheduled appointment, as requested for new patients, but ended up seeing the doctor almost an hour after my scheduled appointment time. He only saw me/my husband for approximately 15 minutes. If we, as patients, have to be on time for our appointments, doctors SHOULD try to be more prompt. I know things happen, but it seems that "things happen" way to often with too many doctors and patients pay the price. When we're late, our appointment(s) get canceled regardless of the reason, it just seems like there should be some consequence for physician practices also or at least more leeway given to patients.
