Dr. John Belardo, M.D., is a cataract surgeon and internationally recognized lecturer with over 20,000 cataract surgeries performed. He is fellowship-trained in Cornea and Refractive Surgery (University of Rochester) and Oculoplastic (Drs. Merritt, Myint, Gladstone, and Nessi). He earned his medical degree from Rutgers Medical School and completed his ophthalmology residency at Columbia University-Harkness Eye Institute. He was the first to perform topical anesthesia cataracts in Oklahoma.

Dr. John Belardo, M.D., is an internationally recognized cataract surgeon at Advanced Laser and Cataract Center Oklahoma, with an impressive record of over 20,000 cataract surgeries and over 40,000 vision correction procedures.
He earned his B.A. from Brooklyn College and attended Long Island University for his pre-medical studies. He then earned his medical degree from Rutgers Medical School in Newark, New Jersey. His internship was at Rutgers-Short Hills Medical Center-Rutgers Medical, and he completed his ophthalmology residency at Columbia University-Harkness Eye Institute in N.Y.C.
Dr. Belardo has two fellowships: one in Cornea and Refractive Surgery from the University of Rochester, and another in Oculoplastic Surgery under the mentorship of Drs. Merritt, Myint, Gladstone, and Nessi.
He has been a leader in technology and techniques his entire career, being the first to perform topical anesthesia cataracts in Oklahoma. He has also performed surgery in numerous cataract missions around the world, including the U.S. Dr. Belardo has lectured and conducted meetings about cataracts, cornea, glaucoma, and plastic surgery.
When he isn’t restoring sight in the operating room, Dr. Belardo loves spending time with his wife and three daughters. He has a love for traveling and is a passionate OKC Thunder fan.
