Jeremy McCandless, M.D.

This Doctor took my case on with short notice and thank god he did. He took over from my hip replacement surgeon who is MIA. In 10 minutes he correctly diagnosed a spin injury that went unnoticed by three other doctors over a ten year period. I am on the brink of major organ failure that he may prevent. I am a very lucky man. Very lucky. This doctor is saving my life.

I'm the type of patient that likes to be well informed before I make a decision. I had a list of questions well prepared for the Dr. However, after Dr. McCandless finished his explanation of the state my knee was in, I had to ask only 1 or 2 questions. He was very engaged throughout our visit and extremely thorough. He was not in and out like 95% on the Dr.'s I have seen....If there were 10 stars, he would have received 10 stars. Very impressive and very knowledgeable.

Needed a second opinion and was happy I did so. Dr McCandless looked over my records and after his exam gave us very important information about my situation that without would have sent me back into the hospital

Dr. McCandless gave me a cortisone shot for my bursitis caused by my hip and it provided great relief. I was grateful. His empathy/communication skills could be better. He has an tendency to look at the ground or to your left/right while he is speaking to you. I have noticed this on multiple occasions

Eh, he wasn't the best or the worst but what I really disliked is that he and his PA Megan I think her name was both just assume that I, the patient, aren't doing anything productive to make my situation better. Instead of just preaching to the patient of what they can do different for less pain etc, why not ASK them, what they have noticed works or doesn't work and what they the patient have done...for example, yes, I'm overweight, but did you stop and ask what I have done differently to lose weight? Did you even see in the chart I am down 30lbs since the last time I was seen? Nope. Just lectured that losing weight will help reduce pain. Well DUH...that's why I have been losing weight. Oh, low impact exercise is best?! You don't say!? Just ask next time verses give lectures. Be more humble medical professionals and do better.

Just got out of an appointment with Dr. McCandless and I felt heard, cared for and supported with my difficult diagnosis of a THP at the age of 41. Even though this is not ideal… I feel like all other possibilities were thought through and attempted. I’ve tried all the stuff, yet the pain got worse. I went into the appointment feeling angry and frustrated about my pain, and left feeling validated and supported. Thank you!

He is so kind, very thorough and exceeded my expectations! I feel like I am in great hands now with my knee injury. I have a better outlook on my recovery now after my first appointment with him.

So far so good. Both knees do not look well. He recommended only addressing the bothersome one. He said replacement of replacements is more difficult--the surgery and recovery. Dr helped me with Knee Problem may have to do surgery but is also looking into alternative treatments

I had several and complicated hip surgery and he been the best. I went through several Doctors and every doctor did not want to perform the surgery due the complicity of the surgery. Finally I came across Dr. McCandless and was very happy he took the challenge. He did a great job with my hip replacement. On all my Dr. appointments he acknowledges all your concerns. I feel I’m in good hand with Dr. McCandless.

Dr. McCandless is very conservative in treatment...trying all options before having a knee implant. He always listens to my fears and has them alleviate by explanation before I leave his office. He is a very caring and compassionate physician.

He immediately took my pain seriously, listened, and went to bat for me with my HMO to push for an immediate MRI. I felt like I was in competent hands.

Dr McCandless replaced my left hip. The recovery was uneventful and now I have NO hip pain! His surgical technique must be exceptional as I now have no pain! He also explains the procedure and possible complications (none occurred)!

Doc McCandless made me very relaxed before and after the operation. Did my right full knee and he will be doing the left full knee replacement as soon as I’m Healed up from the right side replacement
